Mathematics
At Dallas Road, we embrace the importance of fostering children’s mathematical curiosity, skills, understanding and knowledge. We recognise the premise outlined in the National Curriculum (2014) that Mathematics is a ‘creative’ discipline and ‘is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment’.
Our mathematics curriculum, therefore, has been designed to meet the aims of the national curriculum, which is to support children to:
- become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics and to develop their conceptual understanding,
- reason mathematically to develop an argument by following a line of enquiry or to use relationships and generalisations for example,
- solve problems by applying their mathematics to a variety of contexts.
